The Online music and video streaming market in India continues to welcome new players with each passing day. Close on the heels of Jio Music + Saavn partnership and Amazon Prime Music launch comes another cool announcement for all music and movies aficionados.
Xiaomi – the number 1 Smartphone brand in the country has announced its music and video value-added Internet services. Mi Music and Mi Video will leverage Xiaomi’s content partnerships with streaming services such as Hungama Play, Voot, ZEE5, TVF, Viu, AltBalaji, SonyLIV, and bring them under one umbrella. While the Mi Music App is available beginning May 2, the Mi Video App can be downloaded from next week.
These Apps will bring together a library of more than 500,000 hours of content spanning 15 Indian languages. During the Mi Pop Play event, held in Mumbai on May 2, Xiaomi highlighted the fact that it considers itself a service-first company. Xiaomi’s earnest attempt is to serve Indian consumers better by establishing an ecosystem of its own world class devices, software, and services.
On Mi Music listeners can load track lyrics along with the songs. The playback algorithms feature, which will be added soon, will enable the creation of automated playlists based on your favourite songs. From now on all Xiaomi Smartphones will come preinstalled with Mi Music. Essentially this service is Hungama Music with the well loved MIUI interface.
With Mi Video you can watch topical YouTube videos suggested based on your viewing preferences along with content from the partner video streaming services. The interface is fluid and pleasant and offers news snippets as well. In a way Mi Video is Mi TV services on your Mobile. Another cool feature of Mi Video is that approximately 80% of the content is free. Learned Readers, both Mi Music and Mi Video Apps can be downloaded free of cost on all Xiaomi devices in India
